It has been a hard year, but you've done something amazing. I'm so proud of you and I love you very much.
Well done, Larry. I think this year the city got the portraitist we deserve. Thank you for all the hard work.
Larry
This is a project you can be very very proud of. I enjoyed checking each day to see who was next. This was a job well done with a lot of dedication and love. Thank you Larry. A special Happy New Years to you and your family. They have to be special to put up with all the work and effort that went into this project.
Larry -- what website will I check daily now in 2009?? What an amazing thing you have done!
Congratulation Larry. Your photos have created community in a unique and interesting way.
Blessings
Thom
Okay.....a wonderful year. Well done, Larry. Now, lets' vote for the top 10 portraits and have a grand run off vote for number one.....me, I'd vote for the blonde girl in heels on the bicycle with her cell phone. Reminds me of Amsterdam. How about it?
Well Larry it is done and now you can say you know Hamilton better then most. Well done. Happy New Year. I wish all the best life can bring and I'll miss your point of view next year.
Sincerely,
An old muse....
Well done, Larry! I was looking forward to the portrait of you, and it's perfect...as were all 366. I'm looking forward to seeing Hamilton365 at the Art Gallery this fall. Thank you for what you've done for Hamilton. I am not a Hamiltonian, but have enjoyed seeing the hearts of the people in the city through your eyes...
You're a special guy, Larry. Best wishes for 2009!
Too bad I found out in Dec. about this project b/c I really enjoyed looking forward to the next day's creation. Loved all the strong vibrant colours. I'd also vote for the girl wearing a dress and heels on the bike with her cell phone, you'd have to be talented to pull that off.
Thank you for the photos. What about another year? :-) I really enjoyed this website although I'm living in Europe and have absolutely nothing to do with Hamilton.
impressive project larry. i will miss the daily pictures as well. are they all going to be put in AGH? tell us the details if they are please.
Larry... I can honestly say opening up this site and seeing the last photo brought a tear to my eye. I feel like I am losing an old friend. I have been with the site since the story in the Hamilton Spectator. You are not only a very talented man, but kind and gentle. I wish for you all the best with your supportive family in the New Year. I will look forward to seeing this project expand. Very Sincerely, Tina (March 12th) and son Taylor (April 20th)
See, Larry. You brought Hamilton to the whole world with this project. I'm sure everyone who thought our city to be inferior to "THE BIG SMOKE", now has a renewed fresh attitude of Hamilton and it's diverse qualities. Great job!!
I'm proud to have been an observer of this project every day. Thanks for putting Hamilton in the spotlight!
Hope to see you on the 9th at the art crawl.
Congratulations Larry! Job well done. Thanks for letting me be part of this great project. I truly loved checking the site every day to see the next Hamiltonian.
Hey ... it's been great to track this project (esp as I've been living with you and your family for most of it!). You have a clear gift of a "seeing eye" that is able to draw out the uniqueness of a person from any walk of life and a compassion to care for the person you see, and that inspires me, as it's just what Jesus did. I look forward to seeing your future projects! Best wishes, Richard (Dec 19th)
Well Larry - over the year, since I met you, I think I've said everything possible about this great project of yours but now that we have already slipped into 2009 (and me, I'm in Monteverde CR now where the dancing last night was divine) - all I can say is thank you - you provided me with a link to the Hammer no matter where I was, put a fresh face on the gritty city, and did it all with kindness and joy - I will miss the website but know that I'll see you around - best of luck with whatever you do next - and have a wonderful year to come - peace & love my friend KKKKKKK
Well Larry, congrats on having the stamina to stay with this project. I'm sure there were times when it was taxing to get out and do it. But more then that, the opportunity to learn and grow as a photography
To any potential clients it shows your talent and dedication to a project, both are needed in photography, your in a business where tenacity and discipline and hard work are rewarded, good luck. Ed, CN engineer from the GO train
Are you going to create a book of these pictures? IF yes, I would be interested in buying it.:)
What a fitting way to end Hamilton 365.com!
Larry, you have really captured the heart of our city - and from reading all the comments, it is so inspiring to see that you have touched so many people with your wonderful photography.
You have made such a contribution to all Hamiltonians.
Hey you, nice picture the guy that took it must have a lot of talent! I can't believe you're my Uncle! If I was you I would have never in my LIFE have managed to do this project half as well as you Mr.
Love you Lots!!!!! Your niece Tanika <3
I'm sure this collection will someday end up in a book that is written by a local historian like Brian Henley, and future generations of Hamiltonians will look back and really appreciate this well documented Hamilton project!
Larry, what an amazing job you have done here, It was awesome to meet you and be a part of your project!!!!! What are you going to do this year??? Cheers!!!
Larry its been an honour watching your curiosity develop here..So grateful for the chance to veiw my comeunity through your eyes..good luck in all your future projects.
I just wanted to say Thank you so very much for showing us all how special and diverse the city is around us. I think people need to step back and take a look at all the interesting people that we may walk beside and pass throughout our lifetime and know that everyone of us is special in our own way!!
LARRY, ALL THE BEST MY FRIEND,
Thank you for a great project and we all are very grateful to you and your wife for bringing all of us together each day. We all loved the anticipation of finding out who you selected each day. The photo's you took were fantastic and show the greatness of your work, I hope that each and every one of us will use you in the future.
We all wish you and your wife the very best in 2009 and beyond, and if we can ask one more thing of you it would be this.
PLEASE KEEP HAMILTON365 GOING ON, WE NEED IT
Congratulations bro. on the completion of this amazing project. You've been blessed with a tremendous talent. Love, Joy and Prosperity!
Dear Larry,
Congratulations on a fantastic project. Hamilton 365 is my home page and I looked forward to seeing who was going to greet me each day.
You have given Hamilton and the world such a wonderful gift... a unique perspective on the city that many don't get to see.
Thank you for your dedication.... I'm sure there were days when you wanted to take a vacation, but to keep the integrity of the project you couldn't leave town. You certainly deserve a good drink:)
P.S.
I can't wait to see the book! I hope you will make it available through the website!
Thanks Larry, you know you got it.
Thank you so very much for your dedication to this project. Your vision created such an amazing mosaic of Hamilton's diverse cultural mix of people and personalities.
And thank you also for allowing me to be a part of it.
And finally, I am truly sad to see the end of this project.
Have a very Happy 2009!
I just read your article in the Spectator today, and was very impressed with the images, so I came down to view your web site, and again was very impressed with all the work you did.
Being a Freelance Photographer in Grimsby I know its a passion that we have as "Photographers" to try and capture images that will evoke each of us.
Keep up the great passion you have

In a very short span of time, you have made quite an impact on the City of Hamilton and beyond! I can't imagine the discipline it must have taken to deliver this project - a quality photo, an interesting subject, each and every day throughout the entire year. Larry, you deserve a day off! I look forward to hearing about the next project and I wish you much success in all of your future endeavours.
Hi Larry,
I read about your project in the Spec early in 2008. I thought it was great idea, and wish I would have thought of doing something similar where I live.
I've seen most of you photos, and they were very well done -- you captured something special from everyone of you photographed.
All the best for 2009,
Mark,
Brantford, ON
Fitting for a few days after the end of the project....Agnes Bongers' looks at Larry in The Spec: http://www.thespec.com/News/Discover/article/490194
Congrats on taking the final picture... and how fitting the choice of model.
It was an honor to be part of this.
I too lived in Liverpool for a year.. Working at the Playhouse Theatre, and starving which is what does in the arts.
Hopefully we will see you at the Fringe again in the summer.
All the best
Brian Morton
Larry - Thank you for your diligence. I have worked my way through all 366 photos. From the gritty to the sublimely beautiful, your eye has discerned, framed, abd captured Hamilton in all its wonderous variety.

What a fabulous job !!
I have thoroughly enjoyed viewing your many spectacular photographs over the last year. Congratulations on setting such an amazing job and following through until the end.
I have a special place for May 31 but I must admit I found all of your shots fantastic.
All the best to you.

Larry, what you have accomplished the last year is astounding!!!
I congratulate you on your project and am in awe that someone hasn't ever done this in Hamilton before.
I wish you continued success in your future projects and would enjoy your continued framing of life in HAMILTON and beyond.
GREAT JOB!!!!
Wow! what an amazing job you have done! I admire not only the commitment and dedication it took to undertake a task of this magnitude, but also the sheer "love of project" and hard work it must have been to keep at it, day after day. Hamilton should be very proud of you, and make you an "honorary son!" Anyone who had their picture taken must feel special to have encountered Hamilton's Karsh!
Nancy Brown
I feel so...lost. I don't know what day it is if there isn't a 365 picture.
You did a great job Larry--you persevered when I'm sure you wanted to stop, you pushed yourself and you've come out with a great creation.
Can't wait to see where this goes!
Its been a pleasure being a part of this awesome quest of yours! ~sad to see it finished.
I hope to still see you at the Rock!
It's been wonderful to see a new Hamilton face every day :)
Hi Larry, I just found your project, thanks to Mike at The Online Photographer ( http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/2009/01/hamilton-ontari.html ). What a great project, and you really did a bangup job on each one. Beautiful portraits, all. Kudos!!
Best regards,
Bob
A different look at our fine city through the eye(S) of a professional; from Toronto,
no less. Great work, Larry
Hi Larry, I was thinking there are lots of cities in Canada. One City One Year.Is that ok Monica? LoL
Great Work man
Posted to "The Online Photographer: Hamilton365 is a fantastic project, and I’m from Toronto, downwind from the Steel Town.
I haven’t made it through the entire year yet, but so far I have found several faces that are quite familiar to Canadians.
December 22 , Lincoln, has some significance for your side of the Great Lakes Mike. The Honourable Lincoln Alexander was a former member of the Provincial Legislature, and a former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. His humble manner and quiet dignity was an inspiration for both blacks and whites, all at a time when Obama was still in kindergarten.
Well done Larry.

Excellent series. Once I started I simply had to look at all the photos.

As somebody who grew up close to Hamilton (west end of Toronto), I think he really has captured the vibrancy of the city - long maligned by those who know nothing at all about it. Aside from the sheer scope (and generosity) of the project, I'm impressed by the quality of the photography, he really seems to have engaged with his subjects. Wow, a great find.

As Hamilton is beside Burlington, and Hamilton has been known for years as a lunch-bucket city
based upon the former steel companies of
Stelco and Dofasco. Both companies are now owend by other companies: Dofasco by Acerleor0Mittal, Stelco by US Steel. And from a high number of employees in the 1950's,
the two companies now total less than 10,000 employees. Hamilton'ss biggest employer is now Health Sciences with the McMaster University Medical School as well as many other large educational institutions.
Ironically it has taken an outsider the
initiatie to do the histroical treatise.

What a terrific idea for a project. I would love to see this type of thing take off in cities all over the world. Thanks very much for linking this.

As a lifelong Hamilton resident, I was aware of the project during the year it was underway. I feel really silly for not having thought to submit it here!
I know several of the people pictured, and I was pleased to learn that Mr. Strung was photographing both random citizens of the city, as well as specifically arranging to cover the people who stood out and were making a difference in the community. He's made us all proud!

I have to commend Larry for making it through an entire year. I'm nearly finished with my Polaroid 366 project, and it's been a serious lesson in discipline to make myself get a shot every day. Shooting portraits every day takes another level of determination. Kudos to him for making it happen.
Hi Larry..I am a friend of Brad Ruelens...fantastic project and images....wonderful

Jennie

Larry -
Congratulations on completing such a wonderful project and doing so with taste, class and talent! I sincerely wish you all the best on your next project. I hope you are going to take a day or two off now!
Kindest regards to you and your family.
I just was lead to your site and spent several hours looking at the portraits of the whole year and read9ing your captions. What a great job you've done!! Hats off to you for a wonderful idea and such great pics.
It makes me want to visit Hamilton.
Larry
Keep going!
Brilliant, Larry. Just brilliant!
My sister has been living out west for years but is getting alittle homesick after looking at all the pix and recognizing many people and locations.
This was an awesome project. As a former resident, born and bred in The Hammer, now living near Welland, while talking to others who are not familiar with our home town, I am a loud and proud voice when it comes to Hamilton. I love being associated with Hamilton, and wish I never had to move away. Now, due to my health problems, I'm unable to visit as much as I'd like to, but be sure, I visit as much as I'm able. Thank you for putting these pictures out there for all to see. A great job, from one artist to another.

Larry, day after day you did not disappoint, one fine face after another.
I talked to you early in the campaign for a Spec article and wondered if you realized how big a job you were taking on. But you pulled it off with style and heart and made Hamilton a richer place.
Congratulations.
Excellent choice for a final subject!
Thank you Larry, there is no doubt that your project has made a difference in the lives of a large number of people.
FANTASTIC PROJECT!HOPE THE SNOW ISN'T GETTING TOO MUCH FOR YOU!CONGRATULATIONS FROM FLORIDA!
You are a Genius my friend. :)
You can thank View Magazine for my 'hit'
it takes too long to scroll through the photos but I live in Hamilton and they are cool pics
We had a lot of fun working on this project with you Larry! Can't wait to see what you've got in store for 2009.
MAN! That was SO kicka$$ to look at! I'm happy I waited until you were finished it before I looked at it! It took me somewhere around 4 hours to look at them all, but for a recovering drug-addict, 4 hours away from my demons are 4 hours well-spent!
Wow, Larry. You are a very talented artist! Your project is deeply moving. I'm a Hamilton born and raised, will never leave, Hammer girl. And you have shown why I love this city. Thank you for your hard work and your sensitivity. What a gift you have and what a gift you have given to all of us. God bless you in 2009!
Larry:
You are an inspirational force for this city!!
Thank-you
Cal
I am so glad I didnt find this site last year - the anticipation every day would have killed me.
Will you do it again?
Larry :
The hamilton Public Library is putting together an on-line data base of local authors - a short bio and an image. Would you mind if that great photo you took of me is used? I assume that proper credit can be added to the entry.
A job well done!
Greeting. For visions come not to polluted eyes.
I am from Africa and know bad English, please tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "The no crave diet lose weight by conquering your cravings penny kendall reed, stephen reed amazon."
:D Thanks in advance. Mindy.
Larry, not having this site is driving a lot of people including myself crazy. It was a joy each and everyday to find out who was the subject and from what part of the city
they were from. judging from the response and all the way to March we still have an interest may I say it would be great if you
came up with another idea eg; hamilton52.com
where everyweek a person or group could use your talent to promote the city and the business or group with a contribution to
help support local events or charity.
Think about it, i would love to work with you on the idea. it would be great for your business and even better for the city.
Cheers, my friend
Thank you for your vision, for having the courage to show Hamilton the promise she has and for telling the stories of her people!
